Goal vs Journey

Sometimes I get an idea stuck in my mind. When that happens this goal or objective becomes my main focus. I believe that we should have goals in life. There should always be something driving us forward. What happens though, is we try to be the ones driving towards the goal instead of letting God lead us. We think we know best and we want things done at our own speed (or faster usually). God wants us to enjoy the journey. He has things He wants to teach us along the way. We get so focused, to the point of obsession, that we don’t realize that although the goal is important, it’s not the real goal. What I mean is our objective, what we want to see happen, is not as important as the lessons we learn as we approach that goal.
Stages of Life
There are stages in our lives that God sets us on a path towards a particular objective for the purpose of learning certain skills. Perhaps even just to gaining certain life experiences. These in turn better prepare us for what He has planned for us. Maybe the goal that we are currently focused on isn’t meant to be an eventuality in our lives. Perhaps there are certain things we are meant to learn that will help us fulfill the real goal that God has for us. What seems best to us may not be the best God has for us. We have to stay close to Him for guidance in any venture that we take on so that we can be sure to learn the lesson as they come along. Our best isn’t always the best for us, but God’s best is always the best.
